Batteries in solar aircrafts feed the electric motor and are recharged by the solar panels during the day. However, at an altitude of 20 km at temperatures below -50 °C, the battery function decreases. Due to the optimal insulation of the process heat by installing the va-Q-pro technology they are able to keep themselves at a comfortable temperature. As a result, the team was able to break the old world record for endurance flights. It now stands at 625 hours of non-stop flying at an altitude of over 21 km.

The successful Austrian ski freerider Fabian Lentsch and
va-Q-tec have joined forces to organize an adventure trip to remote regions of the world. 40 of our high performance VIPs were the perfect solution for the van. The space saving insulation enabled an optimal separation of the temperatures inside of the van and the extreme outside temperatures of the remote ski regions.
Our VIPs can also be found on the International Space Station (ISS). Due to their excellent material properties they have been installed in a temperature maintenance device called “Freezer / Refridgerator / Incubator Device for Galley and Experimentation” (short: FRIDGE) and ensure temperature control during experiments on the space station.
